Sweat Proof Makeup

We’re in the middle of summer here in Muskoka, Ontario and some days are really humid and sunny which means you need some pretty good primer and foundation in or to not look like a melting DQ ice cream cake. Here some tips to beat the heat and look hot doing it.

1. Blotting Paper

This is a good one for those sweat brows and staches. This paper is designed to soak up access oil. Great to use before you apply your primer or for quick touch ups when out and about. Just grab and blot, it soaks right up. Some super popular options are, Jane Iredale Facial Blotting Paper, and NYX Tea Tree Blotting Paper.

2. Waterproof Mascara

When you out in the heat working ( or playing ) your mascara seems to leak of from the Suns beating rays and underneath your eyes, making you resemble a raccoon instead of a bronzed Greek goddess, so waterproof mascara is always handy. My favourites include Clarins Truly Waterproof Mascara,  and Covergirl Lash Blast Mascara in Waterproof version.

3. Setting Spray

A lot of people feel like setting spray is a unnecessary step in a makeup routine, well it might be on those windy, less hot days but when it’s +30 you want to make this bad boy your best friend. It’s great for not only locking in makeup so there’s not slipping or sliding ( or melting ) around, it also gives you a nice boost of hydrating and makes makeup look more natural and dewy. I currently use the Benefit Ultra Radiance Mist.and another ever so popular one is MAC Prep + Prime Fix.

4. Foundation Free

Usually when the sun is beating down no one want to wear heavy foundation, you can literaly feel it sliding off your face as the day goes on, that why I opt in for something a little lighter and more comfortable. Swap out your foundation for a BB cream, or A tinted moisturizer. This not only doesn't sweat off but it's super light and great to wear all day. Try and get something with a SPF in it for skin protection. I love using the Kiehls BB Cream for a great everyday look with a wee bit of coverage and Marcelle CC Cream is my other light weight foundation free favourite.
